Qualia - categoryzation

Qualia are key components of cognitive schemas that are components of your knowledge.

Their importance results from the fact that they constitute the subjective consciousness (mental representations) of experienced objects and phenomena in the real and media world as well as social interactions, emotions, and thoughts. They are accessible only through direct personal experience.

 

Categorization of QUALIA as features of mental representations:

 

1. PRIMARY QUALIA – in connection with direct experiencing:

 

a) QUALIA of external stimuli

 

  • Direct qualia - stimuli of objects and phenomena of the real  world: nature and environment of civilization;
  • Social qualia - stimuli related to interactions and social communication
  • Media qualia - stimuli of perception of media messages - the world of culture /media representations of objects and phenomena/.

 

b) QUALIA of internal feelings

  • Somatic qualia - internal feelings
  • Mental qualia - feeling and experiencing emotions
  • Qualia of thoughts and mental states

 

2. SECONDARY QUALIA – recalled
